Notice timing, delivery method, renewal terms, cleaning duties, access, and move-out responsibilities come from the lease and applicable law. A casual message may not satisfy formal notice requirements.

Create a documented condition record

Use dated photos and a walkthrough checklist after belongings are removed. Report active maintenance issues separately rather than hiding them in a move-out note.

Return control of the property

Confirm keys, remotes, access cards, parking items, utilities, forwarding address, inspection timing, and final contact information in writing.
